At the Gates: Black Women, Knowledge, and Liberation in Higher Education Book Launch and More

We are excited to announce Aya Collective Publishing’s newest book, At the Gates: Black Women, Knowledge, and Liberation in Higher Education. Co-edited by Ebony Aya, PhD and Stephanie Morgan, this explores the experiences of Black women faculty, staff, and students in higher education. With contributions from twenty Black women, this text amplifies the voices of those historically marginalized in higher education, creating space for those most affected to take control of the framing and storytelling.

At the Gates brings together research and critical essays to (1) contextualize the risks and opportunities facing Black women in higher education and (2) allow us to collectively strategize and develop solutions to move forward in our work despite the realities of being Black in the United States.

This is not your traditional anthology. Each chapter includes reflection and application questions designed to help readers not only connect with the experiences of others but also begin strategizing solutions that allow Black women in higher education to thrive.
