Issa Celebration
The Aya Collective would like to invite you to our upcoming celebration honoring our journey as an organization over the last seven years. We initially launched the Aya Collective, formerly the Kinky Curly Theological Collective, as a space to gather Black women around the commitment of writing. We are excited that over the last seven years, we have held true to that mission producing several texts that center Black women’s voice and perspective. And now we are excited to announce the release of two more: Reconsidering Eve and Finding the Voice Within.
Launch of Reconsidering Eve and Finding the Voice Within
Reconsidering Eve: Towards a Deepened Consciousness is a text written by our founder, Ebony Aya. This text, developed over the last thirteen years, challenges readers to consider the meaning of the biblical story of Eve and how this narrative has influenced the ways that women, and particularly Black women, are treated in our society today.
Finding the Voice Within: A Collection of Black Women’s Stories is a partnership between the Aya Collective and Strive Publishing. This collection of stories consists of 13 different Black women authors, many with Minnesota ties, coming together to emphasize the process of not only finding but heeding the voice within.
You can pre-order both texts today at http://www.ayamediandpublishingllc.com.

Both Reconsidering Eve and Finding the Voice Within are texts that are the result of the work of the Aya Collective, bringing Black women to a space to write in community with one another. As we celebrate the release of these texts, we celebrate the last seven years of doing this work to ensure that Black women have the capacity to not only write their story, but feel affirmed in reading the stories of others.
