At Aya Collective Publishing, we believe Black women’s stories are sacred.
Our words carry humor, grace, candor—and truth. Through storytelling, we pass down eternal messages. We walk in the legacy of Zora Neale Hurston, Langston Hughes, James Baldwin, Toni Morrison, Nikki Giovanni, and so many others who used language to move heaven and earth—filling libraries with passion, wisdom, and power.
And yet, even with such powerful ancestors behind us, fear can still sit heavy on our shoulders. Fear of rejection. Fear our words won’t land. Fear that no one will truly understand what we’re trying to say.
Too often, we hesitate. We downplay our gifts, second-guess our voice, and feel overwhelmed by the journey from idea to manuscript to publication.
At Aya Collective Publishing, we get it—because we’ve lived it. That’s why we’ve created a space where Black women writers can root, rise, and flourish. We’re here to help you write with purpose and publish with confidence.
We do this by:
✨ CONNECTING writers through community spaces like Sacred Saturdays and #WritingPromptWednesdays, where creativity is sparked and sisterhood is nurtured.
📚 READING each other’s work and celebrating our voices through titles like Let the Black Women Say Ase’ and Reconsidering Eve: Towards a Deepened Consciousness.
📖 PUBLISHING with care—from the first words on the page to the moment your book is in your hands, ready to be shared with the world.
Whether you’re just beginning or returning to a manuscript that’s lived in your spirit for years, our mission is to walk with you—to help you reclaim your creative voice, honor your story, and take up space on the page. We’ve done it with many authors, and we know what’s possible when Black women are supported in telling their truth.
Now is the time to break free from what’s been holding you back and step fully into your calling as a writer. Build on the wisdom and creativity of those who came before us. Let’s carry this sacred tradition forward—writing and publishing for generations to come.
Here are three reasons why stepping into your calling as a writer matters now more than ever:
1. The World Needs Your Voice
No one else carries your story, your perspective, your power. To not write is to withhold the gift of your experience from a world that needs it. This is why we published Finding the Voice Within—to remind Black women writers like you that your divine voice is meant to be heard, and your words can shape worlds.
2. Writing Is a Form of Resistance
Storytelling is not just about art—it’s about survival and transformation. Like those who came before us, we use the written word to challenge systems, to imagine liberation, and to speak truth in the face of oppression. Writing is how we resist injustice and envision a freer future.
3. You Don’t Have to Write Alone
Whether you’re building your craft or finally sitting down to write what’s been inside you for years, you don’t have to do it in isolation. At Aya Collective Publishing, we are a community of Black women writers who support each other, hold space, and celebrate every step forward.
We are a collective—committed to our craft and to each other.
We are stronger together.
And together, we are unstoppable.
Your words matter. Your story matters. And the world is ready for what you have to say.
